How to Register for 2025-26 Club Tryouts

  • Follow the "Register Here" link near the top of this page.
  • Complete all required information + the $60 tryout fee
  • In the registration form, you'll be asked to describe your volleyball experience, including awards and honors
  • You'll also have the option to include a link to playing video. While not required, sharing a video in advance helps our coaches be more informed before tryouts.

About SMASH 2025-'26 Club Season Tryouts

  • All tryouts this season will be OPEN tryouts.
  • NO CLUB is allowed to actively recruit specific players/families prior to them reaching out first. If you are interested in playing with SMASH or have any questions, please reach out or just sign up for tryouts!
  • You will need an active USAV/NERVA season or tryout membership (Required)
  • Arrive 30 minutes early for your tryout time to ensure a smooth registration process

Is there only one tryout with no callbacks?

  • Yes, this season SMASH is holding one 3-hr tryout and making team selections from that tryout. We appreciate the stress and uncertainty that having a callback a week later can create. We've collaborated with top club directors around the country and believe this will be the best system for everyone involved.
  • Because of the complexity of a one-day tryout, any information you can provide in your tryout registration, including a link to playing video, is so appreciated.

What if I cannot make the tryout date?

  • Communicate with us (info@smashvolleyball.com) as early as possible that you are unable to attend. We have a large network of coaches and contacts in the community and will try to gather as much information as possible about your play.

  • ONLY for athletes who MUST miss both July tryout dates - we recommend you attend our June Clinic on Sunday JUNE 8TH.

  • Use the registration at the top of this page. You will be given the option to attend the June 8th clinic instead of the July tryout.

How many spots will be available for each team?

  • At SMASH, all teams are "new" teams every year. We have new players join our club every year at almost every age group! Unless you have confirmation directly from SMASH that a team is full, you can assume there are positions available.

How many teams will SMASH have at each age group?

  • At least two teams per age group. The plan is, as many teams as we have talented coaching for and practice time. This season we added a third 15's team (Go Lava!!). For the 2025-26 season we plan to continue with 15-3, add a 16-3 (eXtreme), and are considering additional third teams at other age groups.
  • If you're on the fence about your chance to make a SMASH team, this is the year to come to tryouts!

I heard there are new tryout rules for New England this season?

  • Yes, and we think they are a step in the right direction! Tryout guidelines should be in place to protect the athlete experience. A few key differences this year we think protect players:
    • Tryouts/binding-offers may not be made before the second Saturday after USAV Nationals (July 12 this year).
    • Offers made may not expire in less than 48hrs
  • NERVA tryout policies and other documents can be found here: https://nevolleyball.org/documents/

What are the differences between 'top' and 'second' or 'third' teams at SMASH?

  • At SMASH, all first and second teams from 13-18U will practice three times per week and attend Nationals in June. Third teams will practice 2-3 times per week and will also attend nationals in June.
  • We only have strong teams who train seriously. Unlike other clubs, we consider all of our teams "Elite" or "National" level teams. Our "2nd" teams routinely finish in the top 5 teams in the entire New England region at their age group and attend nationals. These teams benefit greatly from our competitive practice environment, travel out of region, two strong coaches, and are often recruited to play in college.
