Boston Volleyball Festival bookends global pandemic

For many of us in the New England volleyball community, the 2020 Boston Volleyball Festival was one of the very last events to occur before life as we knew it shut down.  63 weeks later, the BVF came roaring back, with 76 clubs from 11 states sending 431 teams to compete on 72 courts for 3 days!  Many thanks to JVC Tournaments, NERVA, BCEC, parent volunteers, coaches, and athletes for a safe and exciting weekend of juniors volleyball, one that will hopefully portend a return to a more familiar lifestyle.

SMASH Volleyball Club had 11 teams in action this weekend.  Some of the many highlights include:

SMASH 16s were 16 Open Gold champions, SMASH 17s placed 3rd in 17 Open Gold, SMASH 12s placed 3rd in 12 Gold, SMASH 18s placed 5th in 18 Open Gold, and SMASH 14s Fire placed 1st in 14 USA Silver!

Congrats to all our athletes and coaches for your hard work and dedication during this LONG indoor season, and good luck in your next adventures, be it Nationals, beach, or camps!

Concord-Carlisle leads the charge in DCL

Concord-Carlisle and Acton-Boxborough renewed one of the classic matchups in MA girls high school volleyball this week, with the Patriots taking a pair of 3-1 victories over the Colonials.

The Boston Globe had a great take on the complete team effort that saw C-C stretch their undefeated start to the DCL "Fall 2" season.

Big shout-outs to SMASH players from both schools (Justine Amory, Lily Sills, Corinne Herr, Raimy Little, Lauryn Friess, and Josie Hanlon) as well as the classiest quartet of SMASH coaches around (Jim, Jeff B, Darren, and Jeff E).

Keep up your excellent work and have a strong finish to this short season!
