**IMPORTANT**  -- Players must provide their USAV ID# at check-in, to be allowed entry to the tryout. This is for insurance purposes. 

Click this link to register for a $15 USAV "24-25 NERVA Tryout Membership", and to receive your USAV ID#. Upon making a team, you will upgrade your Tryout Membership to a season-long "Junior Player Membership".  This is a USAV requirement for all clubs in New England. 

*Note: this USAV fee is for insurance purposes. It is separate from the $60 SMASH Tryout Fee, which covers the cost of gym rental, coaches, and the player's tryout t-shirt.

SMASH intends to field strong teams in ALL age groups.  We are ready to seriously train our teams.  Our tryouts are a fair process, open to all players, with lots of intentional coach attention. Players of all ages and experience levels will be evaluated on potential and current ability, for both athleticism and skills.

First Tryout -- Sunday, Sep 8th: All Ages 8-18

13U, 14U, 15U, & 17U: 10:00-12:30pm @NSHS

16U & 18U: 2:00-4:30pm @NSHS

12U: 5:00-7:00pm @NSHS

 

Callbacks -- Sunday, Sep 15th: 12U - 18U (ages 8-18)

Players who are not able to attend the first tryout will be able to attend callbacks.

12U: 11:30-1:30pm @NSHS

13U, 14U, 15U, & 17U: 2:30-4:30pm @NSHS

16U & 18U: 6:00-8:00pm @NSHS

 

How to tryout for SMASH for the '24-'25 Club Season

• All tryouts this season will be OPEN tryouts.
• If you are interested in playing with SMASH or have any questions, please reach out or just sign up for tryouts!
• Show up 30 minutes early for your tryout date to ensure a smooth registration process. 
• Players must provide their USAV # to be allowed admittance into the tryout. 
• Players should dress ready to play, and will be given a numbered SMASH tryout t-shirt that they can keep, and that they should wear to the callback if invited. 

What if I cannot make the tryout date?

• Communicate directly with Pat Helmas as early as possible that you are unable to attend. We have a large network of coaches and contacts in the community and will try to gather as much information as possible about your play.
• Send a follow up email the week before the tryouts to confirm your interest in SMASH.

How many spots will be available for each team?

• At SMASH, all teams are "new" teams every year. We have new players join our club every year at almost every age group! Unless you have confirmation directly from SMASH that a team is full, you can assume there are positions available.

What are the differences between 'top' and 'second' teams at SMASH?

• At SMASH, we only have strong teams who train seriously. Unlike other clubs, we consider all of our teams "Elite" or "National" level teams. Our "2nd" teams routinely finish in the top 4 teams in the entire New England region at their age group and attend nationals. These teams benefit greatly from our competitive practice environment, travel out of region and have two strong coaches.
