SMASH Flood At Cape Cod Classic

It's not always brilliant blue skies and soft warm sand in the sport of beach volleyball; sometimes you just have to grind it out in the wind and the rain.  Such was the case Saturday in Yarmouth, MA at the Spike U New England Cape Cod Classic.

SMASH players shared joint-Gold in the U18 division when Mother Nature intervened after two teams each went undefeated in pool play.  The rain-shortened tournament was dominated by the pairings of U16 Riley with U13 Teagan, and U16 Ingrid with U14 Casey.

Riley and Ingrid are coming off a historic season with SMASH 16s, where New England's top team of sophomores tied for 3rd in 18 Open Gold.  Teagan's indoor season with SMASH 14s ended with victory in the highest Club division of U16, where New England's top team of middle schoolers took first in 16AAA.

Though disappointed to miss out on an intriguing finals face-off, this intrepid quartet will await better days and clearer skies ahead!  Join them on the sand at future events in the Spike U summer tournament series at various locations throughout New England.
