Riley James Named All-America

Senior OH Selected To AVCA's Under Armour First-Team

 

Riley James has been named a 2018 AVCA Under Armour All-American.  Of nearly 800 nominations nationwide, 24 athletes were selected to the First Team, and James is the only representative from the Northeast. 

Riley has played three seasons with SMASH Volleyball Club on SMASH 18s, SMASH 16s, and most recently on the SMASH 17s that won a bid to last summer's USAV Nationals in Detroit.  The Barnstable HS senior and Bryant commit is closing in on the Massachusetts high school all-time kills record and chasing her third MIAA Division 1 state championship.

Silver Finish For 17s in Detroit

 

SMASH 17s posted a 5-4 match (12-10 set) record over four days of competition in the 17 USA division at the 2018 USAV Girls' Junior National Championships in Detroit, MI.

The 17s placed second and first in their two pools, setting up a Monday night showdown with Sunshine 17 South Bay for a spot in Gold.  Sunshine took a narrow 15-11 third set victory, sending SMASH to Silver for Tuesday's final day of play.

SMASH finished tied for 13th in 17 USA, and ends their fantastic 2018 season in the Top 100 of all U17 teams nationwide!  Congratulations, SMASH 17s!

New England U14 & U18 Champions!

SMASH Wins Five Tournaments At NERVA Championships

 

SMASH Volleyball Club travel teams won 5 out of 8 tournaments contested at the NERVA Championships on May 6, 2018. 

12/16 teams made the semi-finals or higher!

SMASH 17s won U18 Open Gold and SMASH 14s Fire won U14 Gold.

Other SMASH teams winning their final regional event were SMASH 10s (champions of 12B), SMASH 12s Energy (champions of 12A), and SMASH 14s (champions of 16AA).

In New England, SMASH had the top-ranked 10s, 14s, 15s, 17s, and 18s teams, the 2nd-ranked 13s and 16s teams, and the 3rd-ranked 12s team.

In U18, SMASH had 4 of the top 8 teams in New England (17s, Attack, 18s, Jets).

In U16, SMASH had 4 of the top 9 teams in New England (16s, Sparks, eXtreme, 15s).

In U14, SMASH had 3 of the top 14 teams in New England (Fire, 13s, Ice).

In U12, SMASH had 3 of the top 13 teams in New England (12s, Energy, 10s).
