Smallcomb & Norris Receive MA & NH Honors

SMASH Volleyball Club congratulates Emma Smallcomb and Maddie Norris for their selection as the 2017-2018 Gatorade Player of the Year in Massachusetts and New Hampshire respectively!

Currently in her 9th season with SMASH, Smallcomb is running out of titles to win.  As a 12 yr old she won the New England U14 regional championship with SMASH 14s, and added the New England U16 Open Gold title as a 15 yr old on SMASH 16s.  Last year as a 17 yr old she paced SMASH 18s to the New England U18 Open Gold crown, and this fall she led Westborough High School to the MIAA Division 2 state championship.  Smallcomb is a 3x selection to the MGVCA All-State team, and has played for four MGVCA Hall of Fame coaches (Anderson, Barton, Patch, Yuen).  The electrifying setter has committed to Sacred Heart University, and will compete this club season at Capitol Hill Classic, Boston Volleyball Festival, Colorado Crossroads, and Big South with SMASH 18s.

Smallcomb follows Riley James, Corinne Cox (2x), and Julia Flynn as the latest in a string of SMASH athletes to receive this honor.

Currently in her 1st season with SMASH, U17 high school junior Norris is already a 3x New Hampshire Division 1 state champion with Hollis-Brookline, and was named the New Hampshire Player of the Year last fall by the NHVCA.  The powerful outside hitter will compete this club season at AVC Dallas, Capitol Hill Classic, Boston Volleyball Festival, and Big South with SMASH 18s Attack.

SMASH congratulates these two athletes for being fierce competitors and strong teammates, and applauds their hard work and dedication to the sport!

Way to go, Emma & Maddie :)
