SMASH 16s Sparks placed 1st in 16 Open Silver at a NERVA III tournament held in Norton, MA on April 9.

With the tournament victory, Sparks will return to the 16 Open Gold division for NERVA IV.

Coach Liz Swanson was pleased with her team's cohesiveness and execution as they won their pool with a only a single set dropped.  

"Throughout the season we have been working on improving our technical skills, thinking strategically, and playing mentally tough," said Swanson.  "Yesterday all three of those things came together for each player.  Everyone played confidently and owned their job on the court."

Sparks swept through the championship bracket with straight set wins over South County and Mass Premier en route to a decisive triumph.

NERVA regional competition resumes on April 23 with all 17 SMASH travel teams back in local action at NERVA IV.
