Albemarle Field is next to the Gath Pool, and is about 1.2 miles from Newton North HS and .8 miles from Hawthorn Gym

· Take the Route 16 EAST exit off of Route 128. This is Exit 21 from the south (and turn right off exit ramp), and 21B from the north (turn left at end of exit ramp.) Route 16 is called Washington Street here.

· Follow Route 16 to West Newton Center. West Newton Center is about 1½ miles from Route 128.

· From West Newton Center continue on Route 16 East, yet this is a bit tricky so watch signs carefully. Just past the West Newton Cinema (on the right) Route 16 BEARS LEFT at a light. The name of Route 16 is now Watertown Street. (if you continued straight = incorrect) you would still be on Washington Street)

· Follow Route 16/Watertown Street for about .5 miles and turn left onto Albemarle Road

· The field is on the right about 300 yards, just BEFORE the Gath Pool

From the end of the ramp, continue straight (Washington Street, though you will not see signs indicating this) and travel almost exactly ½ mile (.5 miles) until you reach an intersection with 2 traffic lights.

At this intersection, where 2 different roads enter Washington Street from the right, you should take the second right, which is Adams Street. There is a HUGE stone/brick church on the (left) corner with Adams Street, and you should be turning just before the church.

Travel along Adams Street until you reach the first “big” intersection: there is a Dunkin Donuts, a bank, etc….TURN LEFT, this is Watertown Street

Follow Watertown Street for about .7 miles, until the 4th traffic light, and turn right onto Albemarle Road. This right turn is at the corner with the Horace Mann Elementary School on the right

The field is on the right after about 300 yards, just BEFORE the Gath Pool

From the Boston/Cambridge/Malden/Arlington area, not from the Mass Pike:

Get to Watertown Square... on either Route 16/Mt. Auburn St or Soldiers Field Road/Nonantum Road...

Route 16 goes through Watertown Square, and you want to get on Route 16 West = Watertown Street. If you travel from the Cambridge direction on Route 16, this is a right turn just on the other side of the bridge over the Charles River.

If you have come on Soldiers Field Road and its extension, it will mean going straight through the intersection in Watertown Square because you are already on the correct (ie south) side of the river

Travel about 1.5 miles on Route 16/Watertown Street. (Note: Route 16 is also called Watertown Street!)

Follow Watertown Street until you reach a light with the Horace Mann Elementary School on the right.
